People's Political Consultative Conference (Reporter Liu Tong) On December 4, Xia Baolong, vice chairman and secretary general of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met in Beijing with a delegation of the Egyptian Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee headed by Chairman Karim Darwish.
Xia Baolong said that under the joint leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Sisi, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt has continued to develop. Not long ago, Wang Yang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, successfully visited Egypt, and the two sides reached many important consensuses. China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Egypt and actively promote pragmatic cooperation under the “Belt and Road” framework. In the current international situation, China and Egypt should strengthen cooperation, adhere to multilateralism, advocate free trade, and jointly oppose Western intervention in the internal affairs of developing countries. The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is willing to expand exchanges with the Egyptian parliament at all levels to promote new development in bilateral relations. Xia Baolong also introduced the development achievements in the 70 years since the founding of New China and the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.
Karim Darwish said that China's development achievements are admirable and its development experience is worth learning from. Egypt actively participates in the "Belt and Road" construction, supports free trade, adheres to the "One China" principle, and resolutely opposes Western countries' interference in China's internal affairs through the issue of Hong Kong.
Lou Jiwei, director of the CPPCC Foreign Affairs Committee, and Wang Min, deputy director of the committee, attended the meeting.
