Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, December 5th: The Islamic Association of China issued a statement on the U.S. House of Representatives' adoption of the "Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019", as follows:
On December 3, local time, the U.S. House of Representatives considered and passed the "2019 Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act." This bill disregards objective facts, and distorts and unjustly accuses the human rights situation in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Chinese government's Xinjiang governance policy. We express our strong indignation and firm opposition to this.
Since the founding of New China, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Xinjiang has made great achievements in economic, social, and human rights. Culture is protected and promoted. People of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are united in equality, harmonious and mutual assistance, sharing common ground and sharing the fruits of reform and development.
Freedom of religion is a long-term basic policy of the Chinese government. In accordance with the Constitution and the Law on Regional National Autonomy, the rights of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang to freedom of religious belief are fully respected and protected. Xinjiang now has 56 ethnic groups, including Uygur, Han, Kazakh, Hui, and Mongolian, with a population of more than 25 million, forming a pattern of multiple religions such as Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity. Among them, the population of 10 ethnic minorities such as Uygur, Kazakh, and Hui generally believe in Islam, with 24,400 mosques, and 29,000 Islamic faculty members such as Imam and Khatif. In accordance with the State's organized and planned pilgrimage policy, the Xinjiang government has arranged charter flights every year since 1996 to ensure the smooth completion of the pilgrimage work for Muslims of all ethnic groups in the local area, and has provided high-quality services in immigration, medical treatment, catering, etc. to ensure Hajj activities are safe and orderly. During Ramadan every year, fasting or not fasting by the Muslim masses is completely a personal matter, without interference, and local governments at all levels make every effort to ensure the security of festival markets and religious activities such as Eid. The Islamic Association of the Autonomous Region actively organizes interpretations and lectures, translates the Koran and Sunnah in minority languages, compiles and publishes books on religious knowledge, launches Uyghur websites and Xinjiang Muslim periodicals, and disseminates patriotism, peace, solidarity, and ethics The true spirit of tolerance and tolerance of Islam has led the Muslim people of all ethnic groups to believe in it. Run the Xinjiang class of the Islamic Institute of China and the Xinjiang Islamic Institute of Education to train high-level Islamic talents.
Since the 1990s, the "three forces" at home and abroad have intensified their associations, using the pretense of religion, using the simple ethnic religious feelings of the masses, inciting religious fanaticism, spreading extreme religious ideas, and deceiving some believers of unknown truths to engage in violent terrorist activities. . A large number of facts have proved that violent terror and religious extreme behavior have seriously undermined Xinjiang ’s stable and peaceful order, an atmosphere of unity and progress, and trampled on the basic human rights of the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, including the right to life, health, and development.
Xinjiang is the main battlefield of China's fight against terrorism and de-extremization. Xinjiang has established vocational skills education and training centers in accordance with the law, carried out vocational skills education and training, and worked hard to eliminate the soil and conditions for the spread of terrorism and religious extremism, effectively curbed the frequent occurrence of terrorist activities, and maximized the protection of the lives of people of all ethnic groups. Basic rights such as the right to health, the right to health, and the right to development have achieved important phase-wise victories in the fight against terrorism and depolarization. Xinjiang's Islamic community actively cooperates in depolarization work. Many patriotic religious people have penetrated into the people who have been attacked by extreme religious ideas, interpreted the classic doctrines in depth, and rejected the "holy religions into heaven" and "paganism" spread by extreme religious forces. Following the fallacy, most of the educated people were suddenly awakened, regretted, lost their way, and consciously stayed away from extremes, indicating that they must be both good Christians and patriotic and law-abiding citizens.
We urge the United States to respect objective facts and stop interfering in China's internal affairs and hurting the feelings of the Chinese people through religious human rights issues.
